CM11 is out for an enormous number of Android phones and tablets, with some devices having having a problem that USB connection doesn’t work with CM11 ROMs. I lately installed the M4 snapshot launch of CyanogenMod eleven for one of my Android phones. The whole lot went properly, until I realized I forgot to put in the Android 4.4.2 Gapps for CM11.
After connecting the phone with my laptop, the USB connection just didn’t work. I switched my USB cables, that didn’t change something either. My phone was charging correctly as it ought to with a USB connection to a pc, however nothing else. Happened with you as nicely? This is a very common challenge/bug that comes up in CM11 custom firmwares. The best way to fix? It is very simple and that is what we will tell later on this submit below.
How to Fix USB Connection Not Working on CM11
Here is a very quick workaround if you come across such an issue as mentioned above. I found this while going through various settings and configurations. All you need to make sure of is that the proper USB computer connection mode is selected in your phone. For some reason, none of the modes were selected by default.
This is how you can do it:
- Go to Settings
- Scroll down and tap on Storage
- Press the Options key (or tap the ‘Options’ icon in the top right) and select “USB computer connection”
- Check “Media device (MTP)”
That’s pretty much it! This should fix why your CM11 custom ROm was not letting you connect your phone/tablet with the computer using a USB cable.
